We are hiring a clinical Medical Assistant who values variety and team collaboration. You will be the first clinical face our patients see on the way to the exam room, and the person who keeps the provider's day moving. While this position focuses on clinical workflows, the ideal candidate can step into front office duties when clinic volume shifts or coverage is needed. This is a founding-team role: you will help set up our rooms, workflows, and electronic health record templates before we open.

Clinical responsibilities

  • Escort patients to exam rooms; obtain vital signs, height, weight, waist circumference, medication reconciliation, and intake history, documented in eClinicalWorks
  • Perform hearing and vision screenings
  • Run point-of-care tests, spirometry, and electrocardiograms
  • Collect and process lab specimens; perform phlebotomy and administer injections and medications under direct provider supervision, as these services are offered
  • Review charts to screen for overdue labs, screenings, and care gaps
  • Relay documented results, instructions, and orders from the provider to patients by phone and patient portal
  • Process prescription refill requests per provider protocol
  • Prepare, clean, and restock exam rooms; log equipment checks, temperatures, and supply orders

Administrative responsibilities

  • Cover front desk check-in and phones during peak hours, lunches, or planned absences
  • Assist with patient scheduling and registration
  • Obtain and track prior authorizations
  • Manage referrals out and close the loop on reports back; coordinate incoming and outgoing medical records securely
  • Additional duties as directed

Required qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an approved medical assistant training program, or a passing score on the Certified Medical Assistant exam (American Association of Medical Assistants) or the Registered Medical Assistant exam (American Medical Technologists)
  • Current Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
  • Comfort with electronic health records
  • A passion for delivering quality healthcare and serving the community
  • Strict adherence to patient confidentiality and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

Preferred

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • eClinicalWorks experience
  • At least 6 months of outpatient clinic experience
  • Phlebotomy and injection experience
  • Bilingual English and Spanish

Physical requirements and work environment

  • Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking
  • Manual dexterity to operate medical equipment, perform phlebotomy and injections, and type on a computer keyboard
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds; assisting patients with limited mobility on and off exam tables
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids, sharps, and infectious materials requiring standard personal protective equipment
